While the first couple weeks of VALORANT have been fun, learning every agent and experimenting with what they can do. But, that doesn’t mean the developers haven’t given some thought to what they should change for the game in closed beta.
This patch is mainly to tone down Raze and Sage, while also fixing some of the pervasive bugs.
Everything you need to know about today’s patch is below!
The changes in this patch to the healer/ control agent are to her Barrier Orb and Slow Orb.
Her Barrier Orb has been too oppressive in early and low econ rounds according to the developers. This has led to many a clip being wasted trying to break through the icy blocks. The change they came up with was to double the melee damage to her wall, and to the metal doors on Haven, as another option to destroy them.
Her Slow Orb has been tuned back just a bit too add more counterplay and take away the bunny hopping strategy that has been used so far in the beta. Bunny hopping is still a viable option for traversing the slow field, but enemies air movement will now be slowed as well. Walking through the field is now more viable than before thanks to the footstep sound reduction added in the patch. Sage can no longer place the field and run or wait to hear enemies hopping their way through it. She must watch her zone or be prepared for silent enemies about to turn the corner.
The changes to Raze are her audio cues and scaling back her paint shells. The developers have tuned and heightened the audio for all of her abilities, matching their lethality. This should help players who are tired of turning a corner and getting blown up by her Showstopper. Now, all of her abilities should be clearly identifiable when charging and in use.
Raze’s paint shells have been reduced from two free shells per round to just one, but there is now a kill reset like the other duelists Jett and Phoenix. After getting two kills the abilities cooldown is refreshed. The shells now have a minimum time before exploding, adding a constancy that was lacking before.
Besides some general bug fixes, that were not specified in the patch notes, the main map change is the orb spawn on Split.
The location has changed from B mid to B main. From the attackers side, the orb is now in the left lane past the lobby. From the defenders side, the orb is now on the right just past the B bomb site.
Bug Fixes and Quality of Life Updates
Cypher’s Spycam is no longer bugged! The agents ability will no longer be able to equip guns and shoot at the enemy team.
A bug was fixed where the footstep audible range was not indicated on the minimap.
For quality of life, the developers said that they have fixed some ISP network throttling issues and some latency issues that happened with high frame rate scenarios.
